Into the Digital Planet

Hello there EltDays followers. I hope you are all healthy and happy. I have been busy with my exams and essays. Thank God it is oveer!!! I am happy to be back here to share my experiences in the 3rd lesson of 21st Century Skills Training... This week there are a lot to learn, let's begin.

We basically focused on the terms "copyrights, licencing, digital safety, digital citizenship and cyberbully" and paved our way into the digital world.  There are lots of information, material, content, images, videos and more in internet, and of course each of them has an owner. We as the users of internet should be aware of copyright and licensing issues because the owners may take legal steps to defend their rights. So, what I recommend to you dear fellas, before using an item online or real life,  make sure you get the permission of the owner. Also, I learned that the term for us, the internet users, is digital citizen and we have to act accordingly in the digital world as we do in real world. While searching for an information, there are three things to consider; (a) it's credibility, (b) accuracy, and (c) usefulness. We should not teach anything that we found online, we have to be critical thinkers in this matter.

As a prospective teacher, I have become more aware of the importance of digital safety both for my students and for myself. We need to ensure our personal information can not be reached by "the wrong hands". In order to do that, we have shared some tips in our discussion session. These are setting strong passwords, not using illegal apps or websites and not sharing passwords with other peoples. If we can not ensure our students' safety, they may experience cyber bullying. We need to inform them about this issue and make them feel safe to share with me if something like this happens. We can explain the legal rights that they have and encourage them to fight against cyber bullying.

Melda teacher introduced to us 3 useful new digital tool. 2 of them are could-based storage websites, which are Mendeley and Dropbox; the other is Worldwall, which allows you to create interactive digital activities that your students will absolutely love.

I cant wait to tell you about the next session. Till then, take care :))))
