Time to Learn more Digital Tools

Helllo again dear followers!! I am sorry to be late this week, I have been on power mode to catch up with everything. Anyways, I am so much excited to tell you about last week's 21st Century Skills course. There are much to learn in this week's post, so get your coffee and be ready to enlightened!

We have started our session with Melda teacher's presentation of 6 different websites. 2 of them are familiar to you, which are AnimotoThinglink. You can check them again if you want to remind yourselves. The others were also new for me.

  • Edpuzzle: Actually, I have used Edpuzzle before when Melda teacher assigned us with an interactive video of David Crystal. Edpuzzle enables you to comprehend the target topic while watching the video through pop-up questions. These questions can be open-ended, or multiple choice, or true/false. I have quite liked this one because it keeps students occupied while watching the video.
  • Renderforest: This one enables you to create videos. It offers you free templates, so you can use them and modify them in according to your aims. I like these kinds of video creation websites because students become more interested to subject.
  • Tiki-Toki: This one was the most interesting one and I liked it so much. When I was learning grammar topic 'tenses', our teacher draw a time line to make it more concrete. However, after Melda teacher has shown this, I thought that Tiki-toki is perfect for this very subject because this way students will actually see the timeline as a chronological order. Also, one of our friends suggested that this can be used when students introduce themselves in the very beginning of the course.
  • Weebly: This is a free website builder. It offers you so many different templates to use in your websites. I think this is very useful in terms of building portfolios for students to share their outputs that they have been assigned for the class.

After Melda teacher has completed her presentation, it was time for us to present our tools. We were assigned to search for an useful digital tool that we can use in our teachings. We have searched within our groups, and we have chosen 'iSpring Talkmaster', which enables you to create simulations for real life situations, like buying a guitar, applying for a job, or any other things that comes to your mind.

Other groups have also presented very interesting digital tools.
  • Voscreen: I liked it very much because it is basically consists of scenes from animations, series, movies, and YouTube videos. While watching the scene you can watch with or without subtitles. And it enhances students' listening skills. I plan to use this website with my students for sure.
  • Seesaw: You may remember this one from my previous posts. It enables you to create interactive and interesting activities for your students. You can assign them to specific topics and it can be a homework so that they also practice English at home.
  • Venngage: This site is for creating activities and posters to use in classes. Both teachers and students can use it. Teacher can use it to present their topics in one page, which will enhance students' comprehension. As for students, teacher can turn it into a group project in which they will create posters for their favorite movie, for example.
  • Quizlet: I also have an entry on this tool. It enables users to practice vocabulary knowledge through flashcards, which is fun to play for students.

So, these were all the new tools that I wanted to talk about. I have learnt more feature of the ones I have known. In that regard this week's lesson was very descriptive.
We have one more lesson to finish the first pace of this project. We will then move to create our own websites. I am so excited for that matter. If you are too, wait for the updates!

See you soon, till then take care :))))
